Berkeley House
Porter Berkeley, a Civil War soldier, lived in this house. It was
later the home of John Tapp and Mary Virginia Tapp Osborne. It is
now owned by Mr. Dishner.
The original roadbed for Hinsons Ford Road went off to the southeast
where Woodpecker Lane now begins, proceeded past Oak Shade, and
emerged on 211 across from Mayhugh's Store, further east than the
historical marker indicates.
