Dink's Den
Dink's Den is a small cave facing the Rappahannock River about
a quarter mile upstream from Hinson's Ford and Mill. A Civil War
draft dodger named Dink (real name Daniel Gladstun) hid in the cave
to avoid conscription during the Civil War. At other times he lived
in a cabin with a log chimney, plastered to avoid burning. Dink
made a bedroom suite for Mrs. Riley's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Amiss Walter.
