Lom-Bar-Dy

Lom-Bar-Dy Restaurant

A school for African-American children stood just east of this restaurant. The school was called the Shanklin school, after one of the teachers. A slave cemetery is thought to be in the field across the highway. Behind the restaurant are some cottages from the 1950's when Lom-Bar-Dy's was a motel. Lom-Bar-Dy takes its name from a type of elm.

The restaurant was owned and operated by Iva Poe; it is currently owned by her nephew.
