Dever Cabin
This is one of the oldest cabins in the county. Thomas
Williams was a tenant farmer who lived there for almost 50 years
before passing away a couple of years ago. He worked for John Tapp
who died in 1997. The house is now owned by William Tapp, whose
great grandmother was a Dever.
The Tapps have been in the Amissville general area for quite some
time. Mr. William Tapp has copies of wills of two ancestors, father
and son who were both named Vincent Tapp and who both fought in
the Revolutionary War. One was given 100 acres of land for his service
and the younger Vincent received a pension for his service.
This information was kindly provided by Mr. William
Tapp.
