South Poes and Hackleys Mill Roads

Elijah Tapp House

Mr. Tapp, the original owner, sold this house to Lewis Brown, Raymond Brown's grandfather and pastor at the Mount Moriah Baptist Church. Raymond grew up here. It is currently owned by Paul and Joan St. Clair.

Local lore has that a Civil War soldier cut a sycamore switch and stuck it into the ground in front of the house, where it grew to its present, enormous size.
